SEBI approves changes to facilitate growth of InvITs and REITs, introduces concept of strategic investor
SEBI amends SEBI (Infrastructure Investment Trusts) Regulations, 2014 and SEBI (Real Estate Investment Trusts) Regulations, 2014. In order to facilitate growth of InvITs and REITs, SEBI Board has approved the following changes:
(a) allows REITs and InvITs to raise debt capital by issuing debt securities
(b) introduces the concept of Strategic Investor for REITs on similar lines of InvITs
(c) allows single asset REIT on similar lines of InvIT
(d) allows REITs to lend to underlying Holdco/SPV
(e) Amends the “definition of valuer” for both REITs and InvITs.
SEBI further allows REITs to invest at least 50% of the equity share capital or interest in the underlying Holdco/SPVs, and similarly, allows Holdco to invest with at least 50% of the equity share capital or interest in the underlying SPVs.

FSSA issues Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Eighth Amendment Regulations, 2017
Food Safety and Standards Authority (‘FSSA’) notifies Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Eighth Amendment Regulations, 2017. The Authority has substituted regulation 2.10, in sub-regulation 2.10.6 relating to “Beverages Non-Alcoholic-Carbonated”, in clause 1 relating
to “Carbonated Water” for the first, second and third provisos with, “ Provided that the products which contain aspertame, acesulfame or any other artificial sweetener for which special labeling provisions have been provided under regulations 2.4.5 (24, 25, 26, 28 and 29) of Food Safety and Standards (Packaging and Labeling) Regulations, 2011, shall not be packed, stored, distributed or sold in returnable containers
